Reducing workplace violence takes a concerted effort from all departments and all staff in health care facilities. This session will focus on human resources and administration, two key departments that have important roles in reducing, preventing, and mitigating health care workplace violence.\n\nLEARNING OBJECTIVES\nAt the conclusion of this session, participants should be able to:\n\nDescribe the use and impact of zero-tolerance policies.\nExplain the use and impact of proper training and support.\nDefine hiring and retention challenges in the current environment.\n\n \nSPEAKER:\nMike Dunning is the principal consultant for The Healthcare Security Consulting Group, LLC. As the former vice president for healthcare operations with Allied Universal, he served as the subject matter expert for health care security operations and compliance and provided oversight for the security programs in over 800 hospitals and 4,000 health care facilities across the United States and Canada.\nMike is a recognized expert in security, health care security, and emergency management with board certifications and education from the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS), the International Association for Emergency Managers (IAEM), The Medical College of Georgia, the University of Maryland, and Jacksonville State University. Mike is an active member and has served in multiple volunteer positions with the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS), the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD), ASIS International, and the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE).\n\n\n\nThis speaker has no real or perceived conflicts of interest that relate to this presentation.\n\n\n\n\n
