SUMMARY:Where Experienced International Nurses Fit in Workforce Strategy
DESCRIPTION:\n\n \n\n\n\n\nDate:  8/6/26\n11:00 a.m.  –  Noon  Central time\n \n\n\n\nThis webinar is FREE to NDHA and HSI members.\n\n\n\nAudience:\nChief Nursing Officers, Chief Human Resources Officers, Human Resources leaders, Talent Acquisition leaders, and hospital executives.\n\nOverview:\nInternational nurses have traditionally been used to support vacancy reduction. Increasingly, hospital leaders are evaluating how experienced international nurses can contribute to team stability, experience mix, and long-term workforce planning.\nIn North Dakota, this conversation is especially relevant as hospitals manage not only recruitment challenges but also changing workforce participation. The North Dakota Nursing Retention Study reported that nurses working 75%–100% FTE declined from 58% in 2020 to 51% in 2024, reinforcing the need to think beyond headcount alone.\nThis session will examine how experienced direct hire international nurses are being incorporated into workforce plans as one component of a broader approach to strengthen team capability over time. The discussion will address the role of experience in supporting unit performance, considerations for successful integration, and factors leaders should evaluate when determining how international direct hire fits within their organization.\nThe session will provide a practical, leadership-level perspective for hospitals at different stages of international hiring, with relevance to both rural and regional healthcare environments.\n\nLearning Objectives:\n– Describe how the role of international nurses is evolving within hospital workforce strategy.\n– Identify how experienced international nurses can support team stability and experience mix.\n– Recognize key considerations for onboarding and integrating international nurses.\n– Evaluate how international direct hire aligns with long-term workforce planning.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSpeaker:\n\n\nKara Murphy, President\n\nAs NDHA’s international recruitment partner, PRS Global supports hospitals across North Dakota in evaluating and implementing international direct hire as part of their workforce strategy. This session will provide NDHA members with a practical, experience-based perspective on how experienced international nurses can support long-term team stability, while also addressing the planning, integration, and retention considerations that influence success.\n\n \nPRS Global is a Strategic Business Partner of Hospital Services, Inc., d/b/a HSI, a subsidiary of the North Dakota Hospital Association (NDHA). Revenue share earned from Strategic Business Partner relationships helps offset the expenses of NDHA and strengthens the value of its programs.\n \n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n
