Overview:
Join this webinar to learn more about the advanced Health Care Equity (HCE) certification program!
As you are aware, economic, social, and other injustices continue to create barriers to accessing high-quality health care. To help organizations close the gaps in access and quality among patient groups where disparities are frequent, The Joint Commission now offers a voluntary advanced Health Care Equity (HCE) certification program. The program provides the structure to bridge the gap to equitable care by looking at equity issues in all aspects of care, treatment, and health care delivery.
Recently, there have been exciting developments related to HCE certification:
– Led by the Massachusetts Hospital Association, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is proceeding with statewide adoption of HCE certification as a component of its CMS-approved 5-year 1115 Medicaid waiver program. https://www.mhalink.org/news/massachusetts-hospitals-achieve-first-in-the-nation-health-equity-distinction-from-the-joint-commission/
– Several national health plans have incorporated HCE certification as a component of Hospital Bonus Payment Incentive Programs. One Medicaid managed care plan (Meridian – a division of Centene) is reimbursing a portion of HCE certification fees for all in-network hospitals in Illinois. https://www.ilmeridian.com/newsroom/first-in-the-nation-health-care-equity-certification-for-meridia.html
