Chief Medical Officer, Chief Nursing Officer, Compliance Officer, Emergency Department Personnel, Joint Commission Coordinator, Medical Records, Quality Improvement personnel, Risk Manager, and Legal Counsel.
OVERVIEW:
This program will provide information the importance of a culture of safety and will address common patient safety events that could lead to patient harm. Patient care errors typically result from more than one contributing factor and are often the combination of human and process error. This program will cover the various types of harm and common error-prone situations. The session will review four patient care, patient safety, and risk management cases. Patient safety and risk management issues, along with The Joint Commission (TJC) National Patient Safety Goals will be addressed.
At the conclusion of this session, participants should be able to:
- Recall data and statistics regarding medical harm, including costs per year.
- Recite basic definitions when discussing errors, adverse events, and negligence.
- Describe patient safety and risk management techniques to identify and prevent recurrence of adverse events.
